  • TTTC Weekly Blog: Fun, Creative Fall Party Ideas

    Hi everyone! Happy October!!

Since I myself have been thinking a lot about this as of recent (I have numerous friends and relatives with fall birthdays, and I happen to LOVE this time of year), I thought it would be fun to share a list of some of my favorite fall party ideas that I’ve found online.

Of course, we have some fabulous fall cupcake flavors available here at the bakery. Pumpkin Spice, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Bunny Bites (carrot cake with cream cheese), Caramel Apple, and It’s Fall (pumpkin cake with maple cream cheese frosting), to name a few, all pair wonderfully with an afternoon in the backyard carving pumpkins and entertaining eager-for-sweets guests.

Here are some of the fun ideas I’ve stumbled across:

    1. How to Turn Fall Foods Into Seasonal Centerpieces

These are incredible!!! I will never look at a butternut squash the same way again, after reading this awesome little guide to transforming everyday veggies into gorgeous vases to fill with seasonal floral bouquets. My personal favorite, if I had to decide, would be the artichoke vase.  I love the angles created by the leaves of the artichoke; it looks like something you’d find in porcelain at Crate and Barrel! This is a great idea for a fall dinner party or to beautify a backyard barbecue.

    2. Build Your Own Scarecrow

    Straw Scarecrow

How cool is this? A simple guide to building your own scarecrow that would be fun to do with the kids for the front yard. A Giants or Raiders-dressed scarecrow would be a big hit with party guests here in the Bay Area!

    3. Fall Wedding Decoration Ideas

Some of these ideas are great, especially for people on a tight budget. As you read in my last blog, the “woodsy,” rustic look is huge right now in fall wedding cake trends, so these centerpiece, favors, and decorative ideas would go hand-in-hand with a rustic-themed wedding cake!

    4. Candy Corn Martini Recipe

This just looks so yummy!! I love the dollop of whipped cream on the top and how colorful the drink looks. Imagine a bunch of these together around a table. Talk about an Instagram moment! Just make sure the kiddos don’t think they’re for them! 🙂

    5. Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal Breakfast

Since we can’t JUST eat cupcakes all day (…or could we?? Hmmm. Sounds pretty amazing!), this recipe for pumpkin pie oatmeal sounds ahhhmazing. Especially topped with the white chocolate and butterscotch chips!! Looks like I’ll be trying this out for breakfast on Sunday morning!

Okay… I was only going to pick 5 to talk about in the blog this week, but I couldn’t help but add this last one… It’s too good!

    6. The Do-It-Yourself Pumpkin Keg

    pumpkin keg

Talk about simple…and yummy! Basically, you’re creating a keg out of a pumpkin. Think of it as the fall cousin of the watermelon-filled-with-vodka idea. Simple rules of pumpkin-carving apply here, as you simply cut out the top, clean out the center of the pumpkin, making sure to remove all the seeds, finding a spot for the tap to be placed, and voila! Instant beer with essence-of-pumpkin. They recommend Sam Adams Octoberfest; I also recommend Shipyard Pumpkinhead, Blue Moon Harvest Moon, and Saranac Pumpkin, which are all totally awesome seasonal beers.

I hope you’ve enjoyed some of these, and that they really get you in the spirit of the season. I know once I started searching for some fun fall ideas, I couldn’t tear myself away from Google! Check out our Pinterest page as well, www.pinterest.com/thattakesthecake for even more ideas we all agree are pretty cool.

That’s it for now, Cupcake Lovers! I’m off to pick out a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch 🙂
